The Urgency of Grace

Message Summary:

In 2018, people across Hawaii received an emergency alert warning that a ballistic missile was approaching. For 38 minutes, they believed their lives might be ending. People searched for shelter, called loved ones, prayed, and confronted conversations and decisions they had postponed. Although the warning proved false, it brought sudden clarity about what mattered most.

In Titus 2:11–14, Paul announces a message that brings an even greater clarity to how we live: God’s grace has appeared through Jesus Christ. Humanity was trapped in a battle against sin and death that we could never win on our own. Jesus entered our helpless situation, gave His life for us, and rose again to secure the victory we could not achieve ourselves. The gospel clarifies our greatest need  and invites everyone to receive salvation through repentance and faith.

Grace does more than rescue us—it trains us. It teaches us to reject ungodliness and live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives. Because we have received God’s grace, we can live with greater intentionality and urgency. The way we forgive, speak, give, spend our time, resist temptation, and treat others matters. Jesus does not merely change our eternal destination; He transforms how we live right now.

We live between two appearings: grace appeared when Jesus came to save us, and glory will appear when He returns as King. Until then, every moment is an opportunity to respond faithfully. Don’t postpone forgiveness, obedience, repentance, or surrender. Christ has come, Christ has defeated sin and death, and Christ is coming again. This is not a drill.
