Why Am I So Exhausted? | The Rhythm of Abiding

Message Summary:

Most people don’t intentionally walk away from God. They simply drift into self-sufficiency.

In the opening message of our summer series, Feel The Rhythm, we explore Jesus’ powerful words in John 15 where He describes Himself as the vine and us as the branches. Jesus isn’t inviting us into a life of religious performance or fear—He’s inviting us into a life of connection. A branch only thrives when it remains connected to its source.

Many of us treat God like an emergency contact. We call on Him when life falls apart, but spend most of our days relying on our own strength. Over time, that kind of spiritual self-sufficiency leads to exhaustion, frustration, and spiritual dryness. Jesus offers something better. He calls us to abide in Him—to remain, dwell, and make our home in His presence.

Throughout Scripture, God uses rhythms to cultivate relationship. Daily manna. Weekly Sabbath. Annual feasts. Communion. These rhythms were never about earning God’s favor; they were about helping God’s people remain dependent upon Him.

The invitation of Jesus is simple:

Rhythm with Jesus is everything.

When we stay connected to Him, we experience the fruit of His life flowing through ours—peace, joy, purpose, answered prayer, and spiritual vitality.

This message serves as the foundation for our entire summer series as we learn how spiritual rhythms help us move from merely surviving life to deeply experiencing God.
